Tod's SpA is a company specialized in the production of footwear, clothing and accessories with the Tod's, Hogan, Fay and Roger Vivier brands. It is controlled by the Della Valle family.

Listed since 2000 in the index FTSE Italy Mid Cap Index of the Milan Stock Exchange.

It was founded in the early twentieth century by Filippo Della Valle, a shoemaker who sews soles and uppers in his home kitchen. He then opens a shoemaker's shop.

At the end of the sixties his son Dorino founded, with the help of his wife, the first artisan company in Sant'Elpidio a Mare , today in the province of Fermo , in the Marche region. Developing it with the sale of shoes aimed at a female audience in Germany and in department stores in the USA . In the seventies, Dorino's son Diego also joined the company. He takes only a few exams at the Faculty of Law of Bologna, [3]so he prefers to go to the United States to take a marketing course and returns to Italy with the idea of ??creating an innovative product with a brand. In 1979 he was given the leadership of the company, opened an office in Milan in 1970, created the brand for women's shoes "Diego Della Valle" managing to convince some designers of the time to have them worn for free in fashion shows.

A brief parenthesis before the beginning of the Tod's era, a brand chosen because it has the advantage of being pronounced in the same way in all languages ??and which will also be the name of the group's operating holding. At the beginning of the eighties Diego (he will later be joined by his 12-year-old younger brother, Andrea) launches with the Tod's brand the first moccasins with the characteristic rubber sole made up of 133 small spheres, a long process that requires about 100 processing steps many of which performed manually. The Tod's brand soon stands out for its American leathers and English 'splits' that come from artisan tanneries. In 1986, the year in which he also launched the Hogan brand, Diego della Valle was officially appointed CEO of Tod's Spa which soon transformed from a small family business into a luxury brand in the footwear and leather goods sector. Shortly after, he also launched the Fay jackets, inspired by the clothes of the New York firefighters and therefore an informal clothing that does not intend to follow fashion.

In the spirit of tradition but in harmony with the use of advanced materials, the Tod's Group (registered office in Casette d'Ete , a hamlet of Sant'Elpidio a Mare, listed on the Milan Stock Exchange in 2000) operates in the footwear market with Tod's brands (they will become glamorous shoes when they end up on the feet of rich people like Gianni Agnelli , known as Luca Cordero di Montezemolo , famous as the big names of the show Kevin Costner , Richard Gere , Michael Douglas ), Hogan and Roger Vivier  and in clothing with the Fay brand. The three brands go hand in hand under the aegis of the Group (7 factories for footwear and 2 for leather goods) while retaining a distinct identity: some models such as "Driving Shoe" and "D bag" have become cult products in the contemporary elegance. In 2007 the Marche group also took over the brand of the Italian designer Elsa Schiaparelli  .

In 2008, the Tod's Group signed some license agreements with Marcolin for the production of Tod's and Hogan eyewear (in 2012 they will not be renewed). Over the years many investments have been made in the production of women's accessories and in the planning of advertising campaigns, such as the one made in 2009 with actress Gwyneth Paltrow for the spring / summer season.

At the end of 2017, due to declining revenues, a change at the top of the company: Stefano Sincini leaves the role of CEO, Umberto Macchi di Cellere (formerly Bulgari) takes his place. In December 2017 , a factory with an initial investment of 10 million and 50 employees was inaugurated in Arquata del Tronto ( Ascoli Piceno ), the area devastated by the earthquake of August 2016.
