- The advent of scuba diving has not only opened the majesty of the underwater natural world. It has also allowed us to revisit episodes of our own history through the discovery of manmade wrecks.
- Fallen ships, aircraft and other land based remains are for the wreck diver exhilarating and spectacular and yet sombre reminders of wars, accidents or other natural disasters. Such relics, in time have become part of the sea body. Slowly but surely metal, steel and iron disintegrate but not before becoming a reef or base for the surrounding eco-system.
- The Wreck Automatic Diver from Spinnaker attempts to echo some of this fascinating part of the Scuba universe through design cues and techniques. And yet while doing so, it remains a wearable, functional and compelling piece of divewatch timekeeping. Design:
- The aluminium insert on the unidirectional turning bezel is hand treated, abraded and is faded just to be legible enough yet keep the spirit of the design together. The case features an exhibition see through caseback to give a view of the utterly reliable Seiko NH series self-winding automatic movement powering the watch. Dial:
- While the lens is a clear hardened mineral crystal, for the sake of legibility and functionality, the dial underneath has been scratched, etched and again distressed by hand on the base to create a superbly wreck like look.
- In order to keep legibility intact, the indexes remain luminous, along with the hour and minute hands to allow for suitable low light visibility - true to the underlying performance expectations of every Spinnaker timepiece.

- Measuring 43mm in diameter the watch has been distressed and finished by hand individually to fashion a look to suggest that the watch itself might be a wreck fished from the oceans after decades on the sea floor.
